BANK OF BRASIL CULTURAL CENTER
This exhibit was called the Lurid Beauty of Monsters: Ten Years of the Art of Tim Burton and celebrates the tenth anniversary of the publication of the book.
The exhibition has been broken into 13 sections (rooms) to represent the 13 chapters from the art book. Brazilian artists dedicated to experiences with immersive environments such as the duo Mirella Brandi and Muep, the expert in multimedia installations Rodrigo Gontijo, the sound designer Paulo Beto, and Murilo Kammer, an art educator were invited to do their interpretation of the chapter in his/her chosen medium.
There was everything from a praxinoscope, mechanical shadow puppet, anamorphosis, mechanical flip books, magic lantern to projection mapping, VR, lenticular, RGB lighting mural, polarised screens, 3-D film and more.
This exhibit has opened my eyes to all the possibilities of the virtual world and also gave me a history on past techniques that can still be used today. 13 rooms was very ambitious Jenny and I worked tirelessly and traveled to Brazil prior to installation to meet with all the artists directly. We helped them stay true to the Burton aesthetic, re-designed room concepts when necessary and I again was responsible for all visual materials.
